History of 7 Steel Nordic

Founded in 1955, Norsk Jernverk began steel production in Mo i Rana, Norway, laying the foundation for a resilient future. By the 1990s, the company had transitioned to private ownership, and in 2006, it joined the Celsa Group, marking the beginning of a new era of growth.

Between 2007 and 2010, Celsa Nordic invested in pioneering technologies to reduce emissions, while the 2008 acquisition of Steel Service companies enhanced operational efficiency. By 2011, sustainability initiatives were underway, earning Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certification, and by 2013, the company had expanded into Finland.

Celsa Nordic continued to innovate with projects such as Hot Charging and a new mesh plant in Mo i Rana, while also increasing rolling mill capacity and introducing high-carbon steel production. In 2021, the company acquired its first recycling business in Sweden, reinforcing its commitment to a circular economy.

In 2025, under new ownership by Sev.en Global Investments, the company was rebranded as 7 Steel Nordic, continuing its journey toward a sustainable, innovative future.

For generations to come.

A legacy of sustainability and innovation

As a result of a strong commitment to sustainable development, the company has become the second largest recycler in the Nordic countries with 770,000 tonnes of scrap recycled per year.

However, 7 Steel Nordic is not stopping there. The company is actively developing various initiatives to integrate sustainability policies into its decision-making process, further reduce its overall environmental impact, and contribute to a more sustainable society.
